Learn about the genre of Egyptian music and dance that gives Belly Dance much of its essence Baladi! Belly dance was adapted for the stage from social, folkloric, and performance dances from Egypt and other Middle Eastern countries. But at its root, belly dance comes from Middle Eastern dances that focus on the movement of the hips, such as Baladi, which has a very heavy, earthy and grounded look and feeling. In a way, Baladi is like the heart of belly dance… and for that reason, it holds a special place in most belly dancers’ hearts. We’ll go over all the need to knows and for those with previous Baladi experience I’ll be addressing some previously untaught content that you will love. This course is a must for those dancers looking to really solidify their knowledge of Egyptian Dance and bring the ‘heart beat’ back into their dance.
