Location: Townsville! BFitt Gym. Classes located in the upstairs dance studio. All classes are airconditioned, with mirrors and dance flooring. BFitt is located at 6/2 Woodman Ct, West End QLD 4810. Opposite Castletown, next to Chipmunks Playland. Plenty of on-site parking available.
PLEASE NOTE: In TERM TWO we will run our student performance courses. These technique courses in term one are a pre requisite to be able to join us for those. All of our performance opportunities are completely optional but for those who wish to partake in that we need you to take our technique classes first.

This in turn means we can cover our time and resources to hold the class. We will also not be held liable for refunds or credits in the case of natural disaster, government enforced Covid lockdown or changes in government legislation in regards to any compulsory vaccination requirements. In the event of a Covid Lockdown we will however continue the course via online methods.

BELLYQUEEN FORMAT WITH CARA
In 2020 Cara had the honour of attending a 40 hour online teacher training with the one and only Kaeshi Chai (Belly Queen Director and Belly Dance Superstars and Belly Dance Evolution Alumni) in the Belly Queen format. The Bellyqueen repertoire encompasses a wide range of Middle Eastern dances, from the traditional “Raks Sharqi” bellydance format to folkloric styles, blended with other dance forms including ballet, modern, jazz, gypsy, flamenco, chinese, afro-haitian and hip hop. Educating the public about the benefits of bellydance and its healing powers, particularly for body image, self-esteem and self-expression, is an important element of the Bellyqueen mission. In order to serve this goal, the Bellyqueen School of Dance has been established, and ongoing classes in NYC as well as numerous workshops all over the world are offered and open to the general public. By creating a safe learning environment Bellyqueen teachers help people rediscover their bodies, gain greater control over mind and limb and also demystify this often misunderstood dance form.

TRANSNATIONAL FUSION WITH JORDAN
Rachel Brice. Mardi Love. Ashley Lopez. These are some of the greats of the fusion belly dance scene and they will be inspiring our intermediate technique course for term 1 2020. Jordan has trained with each of the aforementioned dynasty’s and will be bringing their movements and methods into the classroom to help you find your foundation in the serpentine. Fusion belly dance blends the movements of cabaret style belly dance with that of Fat Chance Belly Dance and peppers it with elements of flamenco, hip hop and Odissi. The end product is ethereal, otherworldly, sharp and mesmerising. Class will include practising material from Rachel Brice’s 8 Elements program, practise drills inspired by the meticulous Ashley Lopez and combinations that blend it all together, with more than a hint of Mardi’s sass. Prerequisite for term 2 choreography courses.
