COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
6.30PM: BEGINNER DOMINICAN BACHATA WITH AMELIA
MONDAY 10/7 – 18/9 (PLEASE NOTE: NO CLASS ON 7/8)
Bachata is a dance from the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean islands. Both the music and the dance have been influenced by Cuban Bolero, the Merengue (also of Dominican Republic origin), Salsa and Cumbia. Bachata is one of the most popular styles of social dance in the Latin dance scene. This dance is based on an easy to follow sequence of three on-beat steps, with a tap marking the fourth beat. It is styled with a fluid movement of the body which is mesmerising to watch and just wonderful to dance! Bachata’s simplicity makes it a very beginner-friendly dance, while the opportunity for musical interpretation it provides makes it truly addictive for dancers of all levels.

Learn the art of TANGO!! This incredible dance immortalised in many movies such as Take the Lead and Scent of a Woman can now be learned RIGHT HERE IN TOWNSVILLE!! Bursting out of Buenos Aires and Uruguay in the late 1800s, Argentine Tango has evolved into a popular dance form that is now danced socially worldwide. Argentine Tango is an improvised, spontaneous dance, which is based on variations of walking, turning, pausing and adornments. This course is designed for those students with completely no experience whatsoever. Students are welcome to attend solo or as a couple, students will then be partnered with a dance partner during the class.

After a hiatus overseas, Ryan is back!! This is a 10 week progressive course focusing on the fundamentals of kizomba, namely lead & follow technique, posture & hold, walking (how to step kizomba style), and the variations of basics. Bookings are essential as we limit class numbers to help maximise the learning experience. This will benefit the group as a whole, with the goal being to provide a solid pathway for everyone to progressively improve their skills throughout their kizomba journey.
