We are absolutely delighted to announce Belly Dance artist KAESHI CHAI of New York City and San Francisco is coming to Townsville, North Queensland!!

Kaeshi Chai is co-founder of Bellyqueen, PURE (Public Urban Ritual Experiment), Djam NYC and is an alumni of Bellydance Superstars and Bellydance Evolution. For more information on Kaeshi go to www.kaeshi.com

Friday 28/10

SPECIAL EVENT! Spooky Stories – Connect and Play Choreography Co-Creation

Level: All

Create and play with your fellow dancers to build a “Spooky Stories’ themed dance (or dances) to perform at the party on Saturday night. This will be an incredible opportunity to work with Kaeshi and learn new and fun methods to create dance pieces quickly as a collective. Students must also be able to commit to the rehearsal on Saturday as well as perform at the party.

Innovative Veil

Level: All

Learn how you can use a veil for more than just floating and framing. You will learn some of Kaeshi’s favorite flourishes, throws, holds, binds, snaps, wraps and combinations. By the end of this workshop your veil will become a tool for transformation. (Please bring a 3 yard/ 2.75M veil.)

Bellydance Fans

Level: All

Fascinated by fans but don’t know how to use them? Then come and discover how the beauty of fan dancing can enhance your ability to mesmerize an audience. Kaeshi will teach you different hand holds, dramatic accents, poses you can strike, travel steps, plus a myriad of bellydance movements that work well with traditional Chinese fan technique. Appropriate for 12 inch fans with 5-12 inches of fabric hanging off the edge. Please bring your own fans to the workshop.

CONTEMPORARY BELLYDANCE

Level: Intermediate

Contemporary and bellydance both embrace movements that trace spirals, figure 8s, circles, contractions and releases. Learn how these two worlds enhance and compliment each other to the song Tetrishead by Zoe Keating with traveling floor patterns and dynamic stationary combinations that will enable you to fill up a stage.

SUNDAY 30/10

1.30PM – 3PM

Flamenco-Fusion Choreography

Level: Intermediate

Learn Kaeshi’s beautiful flamenco fusion style with step-by-step break down in technique and combos culminating in an enthralling choreography to Beatbox Guitar’s beautiful song “The End Again”. (Bring a full skirt.)
